Online Therapy in Florida — Telehealth at Living Well Counseling
HIPAA-compliant video therapy with licensed counselors, available throughout Florida.
Therapy That Comes to You
Life in Florida does not always make it easy to get to a therapist's office. Between long commutes, demanding work schedules, childcare responsibilities, and the unpredictable weather that comes with living on the Gulf Coast, finding time for an in-person appointment can feel like one more item on an already overwhelming to-do list. Telehealth therapy removes that barrier entirely.
At Living Well Counseling & Consulting, our online therapy program gives you access to the same licensed therapists, the same evidence-based treatment, and the same quality of care you would receive in our Cape Coral or Fort Myers offices, all from the comfort and privacy of your own home. Whether you live in Southwest Florida or on the other side of the state, telehealth makes professional mental health support accessible.
How Telehealth Can Help
Telehealth therapy is not a watered-down version of in-person counseling. Research consistently shows that video-based therapy is equally effective for the vast majority of mental health concerns. A comprehensive review published in the Journal of Affective Disorders found no clinically significant difference in outcomes between telehealth and face-to-face therapy for conditions including anxiety, depression, and PTSD.
Online therapy at Living Well can help with:
- Anxiety and panic — learning coping strategies and addressing root causes without the added stress of travel
- Depression — maintaining consistent sessions even on days when leaving the house feels impossible
- Couples and relationship issues — attending sessions together from home, which can feel less intimidating than a clinical office
- Stress and burnout — fitting therapy into a packed schedule without losing half a day to commuting
- Trauma and PTSD — processing difficult experiences in the safety of your own environment
- Grief and loss — receiving support during a time when leaving home may feel especially hard
- Life transitions — navigating career changes, relocation, retirement, or other major shifts
Telehealth is especially valuable for people who live in rural parts of Florida where therapist availability is limited, for those with mobility challenges, for parents of young children, and for anyone whose schedule makes office visits difficult. If you have been noticing signs that it might be time to talk to a therapist, telehealth can help you take that first step today rather than waiting for the perfect time.
Our Approach
Telehealth sessions at Living Well use a HIPAA-compliant video platform with end-to-end encryption. Your sessions are never recorded, and no data is stored on third-party servers. The platform meets every federal and state requirement for protecting your health information.
Here is what you need to get started:
- A device with a camera and microphone — a smartphone, tablet, laptop, or desktop computer all work
- A stable internet connection — we recommend at least 10 Mbps broadband for smooth video
- A private, quiet space — a room where you can close the door and speak freely without being overheard
There is no software to download. Before each session, you will receive a secure link that opens directly in your web browser. You click the link at your appointment time, and your therapist will be waiting for you.
Our therapists use the same evidence-based modalities in telehealth as they do in person: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), EMDR, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Gottman Method, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and more. The therapeutic relationship, the clinical skill, and the treatment outcomes are the same. The only difference is that you do not have to drive to get there.
If you are curious about the difference between stress and burnout, telehealth is an excellent way to explore that question with a professional from wherever you are in Florida.
What to Expect
Scheduling a telehealth appointment works the same way as booking an in-person visit. You can call our office or use our online scheduling system to choose a time that works for you. Before your first session, you will complete intake paperwork electronically.
At your appointment time, click the secure link sent to your email. Your therapist will greet you on video and walk you through the intake process, which covers your history, current concerns, and goals for therapy. From there, you will build a treatment plan together.
Sessions are typically 50 minutes and scheduled weekly or biweekly. Many clients choose telehealth exclusively, while others alternate between online and in-person visits depending on their week. The flexibility is yours.
When might in-person be better? While telehealth works well for most people, there are some situations where in-person therapy may be more appropriate. If you are in acute crisis, experiencing severe dissociation, or need specialized assessments that require physical presence, your therapist may recommend meeting in our office. We serve clients throughout Florida online and at our in-person locations in Southwest Florida.
Insurance & Affordability
Telehealth therapy is covered by most insurance plans at the same rate as in-person visits. Florida law requires insurers to reimburse telehealth services on par with face-to-face care, meaning your copay, coinsurance, and deductible amounts are typically identical whether you attend online or in the office.
We are in-network with Aetna, BCBS, Florida Blue, Cigna, UHC, Optum, TRICARE, VA Community Care, CHAMPVA, Medicare, Medicaid, Sunshine Health, and Lee Health. Our team can verify your telehealth benefits before your first appointment. For more information, visit our insurance details page.
For clients without insurance or with high out-of-pocket costs, the Living Well Mission scholarship may be available to help offset the expense of therapy. We believe that geography and finances should never prevent someone from getting the help they need. Contact our office to learn more.
