About Ann
I am a licensed mental health counselor with certification as a trauma professional, and I have spent nearly three decades in this work because I believe in what it can do. I moved to Florida from Pennsylvania in 2019 — I could not handle another winter and needed to be somewhere warm — and I have not regretted it for a moment.
I hold two Master of Arts degrees from Kutztown University: one in Counseling Psychology, earned in 1995, and one in School Counseling, earned in 2004. I started in mental health therapy in 1995, then moved into substance abuse counseling for several years. While I raised my son, I spent 18 years as a school counselor, and I have since returned to mental health and substance use counseling, because that is where my passion has always been.
Everyone in life — including therapists, at times — needs someone to talk to in order to resolve problems, manage stress, process trauma, or strengthen coping skills. I begin by looking at what you want to accomplish, because that becomes the goal of therapy, and then we work on the skills that will get you there. I believe everyone already has the tools inside them to achieve their goals; it is just a matter of unlocking them and learning to use them.
In session, I draw on trauma stabilization and reprocessing strategies, cognitive-behavioral techniques, and person-centered and solution-focused approaches. Which of those we lean on depends entirely on you — what you are carrying, what you want to change, and the pace that feels manageable.
I have worked extensively with trauma survivors, along with clients navigating depression, anxiety, eating disorders, and substance use, and I have worked with the LGBTQ+ community. I enjoy working with all clients, and I prefer working with those ages 8 and older. I offer individual, couples, and family counseling.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my husband doing outdoor activities — especially riding the Harley and getting out on the water. I love to exercise and walk daily, and I knit in my spare time. I look forward to meeting and working with you.
